Now that things are things are getting back to how it was, we can resume our travels again! Ideally going abroad is the way to go, but if you only have few days to spare, here are some of the best holiday destinations you visit right here in NSW:
Byron Bay is about an 8-hour drive from Sydney. It’s been described as a laid back seaside destination and a definite hotspot for surfers. Perfect if you want to enjoy the beach and experience some coastal town charm.
The Hunter Valley is about a 2-hour drive from Sydney. It is one of the oldest wine regions in Australia and perfect for wine lovers and foodies. Enjoy the scenic drive on the way and explore the vast variety of vineyards that both adults and children can enjoy.
The Blue Mountains is about an hour drive from Sydney. It is the location of the famous ‘Three Sisters’ rock formation that many tourists go to visit. Apart from that, there are many other natural attractions and lookouts that even the locals keep going back for. There are also plenty of activities that the whole family can do such as hiking, mountain biking, and rock climbing.
Coffs Harbour is about 5 ½ hours from Sydney and home to the famous ‘Big Banana’. Apart from its beautiful beaches, you can check out the marine park which is home to dolphins, turtles, and a variety of tropical fish.
Port Stephens is about 2 ½ hours from Sydney. It is one of the top fishing destinations in the country, so if you love fishing, Port Stephens is where you need to be. There is also dolphin and whale watching available which the kids will surely enjoy. On top of the water activities, you can also check out the giant sand dunes and even go camel riding as well as quad biking or sledding.
The Snowy Mountains are about 5 ½ hours from Sydney. Don’t be fooled by the name because you can enjoy what this destination has to offer in the winter as well as the summer. While wintertime attracts skiers, in the summertime you can do activities such as bushwalking, climbing, and horse riding. This is definitely a destination that you can visit all year round.
Batemans Bay is about 4 hours from Sydney. Like the previous destinations, there are plenty of water sports the family can do aside from plenty of different walking tracks, depending on what you’re hoping to see or experience.
Dubbo is a little slice of countryside that is about a 5-hour drive from Sydney. Its most well-known attraction is the Taronga Western Plain Zoo. If you love Taronga Zoo in Sydney, then this zoo in Dubbo is worth checking out as well. And of course, to accompany the countryside are the Farmer’s Markets where you can discover local produce and items you may not find in Sydney.
Jervis Bay is about 3 hours from Sydney. It’s said to possess the whitest sand in the world and the only way to know for sure is to see for yourself. Apart from this, it is also known to be among one of the safest beaches in the world, so if you’ve got little ones who love the water then this might be the place to bring them.
The last on our list (but not least) is Koala capital, Port Macquarie which is about 4 hours from Sydney. Port Macquarie has the highest Koala population on the east coast of Australia and is home to the Koala Hospital. Daily tours are given, but you may have to double check to see if there are any restrictions currently in place.
There are so many more wonderful places to visit in NSW and we would love to hear where you have been or are planning to go. Pop in for a chat in our Parramatta or Penrith salon and maybe get your teeth whitened before your trip!
In Parramatta, we are on Macquarie St (inside Fitness First) walking distance from the station and Westfield Parramatta. While in Penrith, we are on Woodriff St, along a little arcade behind Allen Place Car Park. We are open 7 days a week, and we take after work bookings.
